About the Artist

Candice Brogle

Candice Brogle is a painter whose pictures mainly focus on strange, dreamlike and lugubrious atmospheres, yet always clinging to a very detailed and realistic style. Her pictures cover most aspects of the fantasy-genre without ever giving in to it's typical cliches, as they also always contain a lot of visions emerging directly from her own subconscious. Often certain themes or symbols, such as the leash, for example, appear over and over again in her paintings, giving them a very personal and unique touch.

This naturally grown sincerity in style and expression makes Candice Brogle's pictures very easy to recognize among hundreds of others.

Artist's Statement

My pictures come to me like dreams, without any special effort. I feel a great need to portray these visions. To do that, I simply reach into the endless stream of pictures that flows inside me and get hold of some of these visions. I don't demand high standards of my pictures. All that matters to me is that the pictures stay as authentic and honest as possible and that they always contain a certain beauty, even if they emerge from the darkest well of my subconscious. They are meant to attract the viewer and should therefore not be repulsive. This might be a try to make one's peace with the dark sides of the soul or at least to dare a close look at them.
